Alltrans is committed to leading the transport industry in minimising the impact of its activities on the environment. Alltrans has systems in place to manage the loading of vehicles so as to minimise the number of journeys we make whilst empty. We work with clients in the Healthcare Sector to work together to share journeys. This will also contribute to the cost of the fixed asset as well as helping reduce the environmental impact. In 2006 Alltrans installed satellite monitoring equipment in all our fleet which monitors many things including fuel efficiency. Our warehouseand office staff are instructed to carry out simple measures such as ensuring lights are switched off when they aren’t needed. Warehouse Managers ensure incoming articulated tractor units switch off engines and do not allow the engines to idle.
It is our strategy to continue to improve our carbon footprint.
The key points of its strategy to achieve this are:
Minimise waste by evaluating operations and ensuring they are as efficient as possible.
Minimise toxic emissions through the selection and use of its fleet and the source of its power requirement.
Actively promote recycling both internally and amongst its customers and suppliers.
Source and promote a service range to minimise the environmental impact of distribution.
Meet or exceed all the environmental legislation that relates to the Company.
To review an accredited program to offset the greenhouse gas emissions generated by our activities and have it adopted by the Company by 2013.
Yours Sincerely
